Baby Naming Ceremonies
For many people today, a religious christening is not a relevant option, but it is still important for the family to gather, to welcome the child, to name him or her, and perhaps give some adults special responsibilities.
As a Celebrant, it is my role to help you create a unique Ceremony which is right for your family, and one which helps parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers and friends to express their joy, their care and their hopes for the child and their future.
What’s Involved?
Naming ceremonies all differ slightly in structure/content (and rightly so!) but can include some or all of the following:
Introduction & welcome
Readings (poem/verse)
Parental statements/promises
Explanation of chosen name/s
Aspirations for the child’s future
Appointment of guardians, mentors or ‘Sparents’
Recognition of grandparents
The naming
Vows of love & support from others
Symbols of recognition e.g tree planting, candle ceremony, special gifts, sprinkling with water or rose petals etc
The possibilities are only limited by your own personal requirements and imagination.
What Does The Fee Include?
Initial and on-going consultation
Examples/suggestions of readings & poems (if required)
Presentation folder for the child including wording of the Ceremony and Naming Certificate
Liaison with venue (if appropriate)
Conduct of the Ceremony
How Much Does It Cost?
The total fee for a Baby Naming Ceremony (as outlined above) is £100. Mileage is charged at 45p per mile after the first 10 miles.
